The effects of semen DNA fragmentation depend on the quality of the oocyte. In this study we have analyzed the effect of sperm DNA fragmentation on reproductive outcomes. For this, 210 seeds have been analyzed whose pairs are subjected to IVF - ICSI cycles, both using fresh or frozen semen and their own or donor oocytes. With this, it has been observed that the rate of fragmentation of the DNA is not altered with the freezing of the semen in a significant way and that these levels show no difference after performing the swim-up. With the use of own oocytes, it was found that if the levels of fragmentation increased, a decrease in the probability of pregnancy was observed. In the case of donor oocytes, this decrease was minor but not significant. This shows that the effect of sperm DNA fragmentation does not depend on the origin of the semen or on the fertilization process used and that its effects can be diminished by the reparative capacity of the oocytes.
