Postpartum

Postpartum is a very unknown period and full of doubts. Parents have to adapt to the new day to day and reorganize their lives to fit the newcomer.

The midwife is the reference professional in this stage, the puerperium. It is responsible for carrying out the exploration and care for the mother and for the baby. Advises on breastfeeding and care for physical and emotional recovery and clarifies the doubts of parents.

As for breastfeeding, the figure of the midwife is of great importance since the stay in the hospital is very short and in many cases the learning is not adequate and causes the early abandonment of breastfeeding. Therefore, their orientation and advice are fundamental for a good breastfeeding.
