Process

As for semen, it comes from a donor bank. All donor samples are frozen after obtaining them for a minimum of 6 months to ensure the absence of transmissible infections.

Once thawed, the sample is processed and used to fertilize the ovule, either conventionally or through ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection).

Next, the fertilized ovules, already considered embryos, are left in culture until the day of the transfer. This can be done on day 2-3 or on day 5-6, depending on the characteristics of the situation and the way of working of each laboratory.

Fertilization and transfer

To favor the implantation of the transferred embryos, the patient receives estrogen and progesterone administered orally, vaginally or in patches. This hormonal medication will allow your endometrium to acquire the trilaminar appearance and optimal thickness for embryo implantation.

Two weeks after the transfer, the measurement of betahCG (pregnancy test) will be carried out, which will confirm whether the technique has been successful.

When to do an IVF with a sperm donor?
