Researchers have published the work in the online edition of the British Medical Journal, which states that respiratory problems increase in babies born by caesarean sections scheduled ahead of time.

The exact reason is unknown, but the complications could be due to the lack of hormonal activity and the physiological changes that appear during childbirth. When the mother goes into labor, there is an increase in the level of catecholamines, these substances favor the release of the fundamental pulmonary surfactant in the respiratory function of the baby.

In the study, we reviewed the data of 34,000 healthy babies, born between week 37 and 41 of gestation; We compared the data of natural birth and caesarean section when the woman was in childbirth with those scheduled cesarean births.

In conclusion, the researchers of the study recommend that those mothers who demand intervention, be duly informed of the possible complications that may arise from this operation, not only for the baby but also for the future breast.
