Exem foam kit to make a hysterosalpingosonography
Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is a female fertility test indicated for the study of the uterine cavity and, above all, the fallopian tubes, since it provides information on its permeability and functionality.
Currently, there is a newer technique to assess the female reproductive tract that will gradually replace conventional HSG. It is the Hysterosalpingo-Foam-Sonography (HyFoSy), a type of hysterosalpingosonography that uses a foaming gel.
In particular, to carry out the HyFoSy procedure, specialists use the ExEm® Foam Kit , a product that is very easy to use and does not cause any discomfort for women.
Below you have an index with all the points that we will discuss in this article.

What is the HyFoSy?
Hysterosalpingo-Foam-Sonography is an improved technique of classical hysterosalpingography, which uses a contrast medium and an X-ray machine to visualize the anatomy of the cervix, uterus and fallopian tubes.
In the case of the HyFoSy, the procedure is much simpler. Only the application of a foaming gel, obtained with the ExEm® Foam Kit, is necessary at the same time that an ultrasound is done in the gynecologist's office.
Thanks to the development of this new diagnostic imaging technique, women who suffer from infertility will be able to benefit from the advantages of the HyFoSy, without experiencing the fear inspired by the previous HSG.

Indications
In general, hysterosalpingography is indicated for women with problems to conceive and who are going to undergo an artificial insemination (AI) treatment.
For the AI to be successful, it is necessary to make sure that the woman has her permeable fallopian tubes. Otherwise, the sperm could not reach the egg to fertilize it and, therefore, it would be necessary to resort to in vitro fertilization (IVF).
In short, both conventional HSG and HyFoSy serve to assess the tubal function of women and help determine which technique of assisted reproduction is the most appropriate in each case.
Other indications of this diagnostic technique are the study of women with alterations in menstruation, tumors in the pelvis, congenital malformations, etc.
Result of the HyFoSy
During the ultrasound scan procedure, the fallopian tubes will be visible for a short period of time. If not, the HyFoSy would indicate that there is a unilateral or bilateral tubal obstruction, as the case may be.
The foam that flows through the tubes and that leaves the abdominal cavity will be processed by the human body. The rest of the foam will be reabsorbed after 24 hours, as well as the air that remains in the abdominal cavity after surgery.
