Oligospermia is defined as the low concentration of sperm in the ejaculated semen.

It is, therefore, a semen of poor quality and men who suffer from it have problems to conceive naturally, because the lower concentration of sperm, reduces the likelihood that they get through all the barriers that are in the female reproductive tract, reach the ovule and fecundate it.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a man suffers from oligospermia when the total number of sperm is less than 15 million sperm per milliliter.
