What is varicocele?
Varicocele is defined as the dilation of spermatic cord veins (veins that nourish the testicle). It occurs when the valves of these veins prevent the blood from flowing properly causing an increase in temperature and a swelling of the veins.
This can be detrimental to the process of spermatogenesis (formation of sperm), which would lead to a decrease in the quality of sperm due to alterations in the concentration, mobility and / or morphology of the sperm.
