Endometriosis: location, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment

Endometriosis is the growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity. It will have different symptoms depending on the degree of severity of the pathology and the place of appearance of the tissue. For example, if it appears in the ovary (ovarian endometriosis), it causes ovarian cysts (endometriomas).

Its effects on female fertility, the difficulty in achieving natural pregnancy and the chances of success with in vitro fertilization ( IVF ) treatments will also depend on the type of endometriosis in question. In cases with deep or severe endometriosis, it may even be necessary to resort to ovodonation to achieve pregnancy.
