Some of its benefits go through the strengthening of bones.
The level of estrogen in women is the same during their first 25 years and then decreases, especially with the arrival of menopause . The body itself reacts to this fact by producing other hormones such as FSH that induces the production of ovules or Luteinizing Hormone (LH). Both control ovulation , follicle maturation or progesterone.
The woman produces oestrogens through the ovaries fundamentally and in case of pregnancy by the placenta. Some studies suggest that estrogens are necessary for pregnancy.
What types are there?
Estrogens can be of different types:
- Natural estrogens: Within this group we can find estradiol which is the most potent of all, estrone that is formed when estradiol passes through the liver and estriol is very weak. In the natural ones we can also find the so-called equine conjugated estrogens, which are those that come from the mare's urine and are supplied orally.
- Semi-synthetic or synthetic estrogens: These are ethinylestradiol and mestranol. The first is the most powerful in the group of oral and is what we can find in oral contraceptives. The second, on the other hand, is less powerful.
- Non-steroidal Estrogens: Within this classification would appear stilbenes, clerotrianisano and phytoestrogens.
In the case of men, they produce testosterone, dihydrotestosterone and estradiol. These last two are produced by testicular secretion.

Side effects
The prolonged use of estrogen can produce some negative effects on the person such as diabetes, some liver problems, thromboembolism, uterine hemorrhage, myocardial infarction, etc.
An estrogen-based treatment should always be applied under medical prescription.
