The first fertility study. What does it consist of?The number of babies conceived through assisted reproduction techniques in Spain has surpassed 25,000 births in recent years. According to data provided by the Spanish Fertility Society (SEF), 15% of couples of reproductive age experience problems when it comes to getting a pregnancy naturally.
Today, talking about these issues with family or friends can mean, for certain people, a delicate and even embarrassing topic, which they prefer to keep secret.
Facing fertility problems in the coupleApproximately 60% of Spanish women are not informed about assisted reproduction, despite the fact that there are more and more fertility clinics and the media inform in more detail about the advances in these treatments.
In iGin we will solve all your doubts and uncertainties so that you can face the treatment with confidence and tranquility. The first appointment: the initial study of fertility
You can contact us through our telephone, email or visit any of our clinics to make the first visit. This appointment is completely free, private and without obligation. In iGin we know the importance of starting a fertility treatment with all the questions resolved, so in this first contact, we will solve all the doubts or uncertainties that you need to ask us.
During the first gynecological consultation, we will perform a specific ultrasound where the basic parameters for a reproduction treatment will be evaluated: antral follicles count, appearance of the uterine cavity, possible malformations in the female reproductive system, etc.
After this first exam, our specialists will indicate the additional tests they consider necessary for your specific case.

Other fertility tests
There is an additional list of tests that are usually required to know in greater depth the reproductive status of patients.
- Seminogram: is the analysis of semen quality. In this test, basic parameters of the sample such as the concentration, morphology and mobility of the spermatozoa are observed.
- Basal hormone analysis: the study of sex hormones should be performed between days 2 and 3 of the menstrual cycle to assess both the ovarian reserve and possible hormonal changes that may interfere with fertility.
- Hysterosalpingography: it is an image test used to rule out possible anatomical alterations in the reproductive system of women that could not be observed by ultrasound. It consists in introducing a contrast fluid through the vagina that penetrates to the uterine cavity and the tubes. Through an X-ray the path traced by the liquid can be observed, being able to detect obstructions, adhesions or partitions.
Based on the results obtained after the initial tests and knowing the clinical history of the patients, our specialists may consider it necessary to perform other complementary tests.
Given that each case and each pair is different, at iGin we believe that the best way to advise our patients is to do it in a personalized way. Therefore, it is important to know all your fertility data to guide them towards the optimal treatment.
