Regulate the rule without contraception

The regularization of menstrual cycles is important in every woman, whether she is pregnant or not, and always check with the gynecologist to identify if this irregularity in the bleeding is a physiological problem, as gynecological alterations such as ovaries polycystic tumors, uterine fibroids or some bacterial infection, among others may be the cause of this lack of control, and it is necessary to address them as soon as possible.

Below you have an index with all the points that we will discuss in this article.

Regulate the rule without contraception

Importance of regulating the rule

The menstrual cycle includes a series of stages in which the sex hormones, FSH, LH, Estradiol and Progesterone mainly increase their concentration and are related to each other to cause ovulation and facilitate the arrival of sperm to the ovum and trigger menstruation if the formation of an embryo and its fixation to the endometrium has not occurred.

During the fertile life of the woman, the greater concentration of the different hormones, mainly of estrogen, protects us from suffering diseases such as osteoporosis or cardiovascular disease:

  • Cholesterol metabolism works by reducing the risk of atherosclerosis
  • They improve the plasticity of the blood vessels decreasing the risk of arterial obstruction
  • Reduce the incidence of coronary heart disease
  • Actively participate in the absorption of calcium by the bones

Therefore, a decrease in the concentration of circulating estrogens, naturally due to the menopause or as a result of an alteration or operation that affects the ovaries or ovarian function, causes this protection to cease thanks to the estrogenic concentration.

Progyluton and hormone replacement therapy

Substitute hormone therapy consists of the cyclic administration of estrogens, usually combined with progesterone, which reduces the risk of some types of estrogen-dependent cancers, to compensate for the fall in the concentration of estrogen in the body, for whatever reason.

In women of childbearing age with irregular menstruation, menstruation can be regularized with the combination of estrogen and progesterone but without preventing ovulation, unlike contraceptive pills. One of the medications used for this is Progyluton.

Progyluton has a presentation in 21 pills, 11 white pills, which contain only estrogen, and 10 light brown pills, which carry a combination of estrogen with progesterone. After taking all the pills, menstrual bleeding will occur during rest, which is 7 days.

Progyluton and pregnancy

It should be clear that progyluton is not a contraceptive, nor does it improve fertility, but it is true that it helps regulate menstrual cycles without preventing ovulation, so pregnancy could occur. In the event that this occurs, it is necessary to immediately stop the treatment with progyluton and consult the gynecologist.

Substitute hormone therapy has traditionally been carried out with contraceptives, but this is an alternative to regulate menstruation without preventing natural ovulation.
